Vera Krichevskaya is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, director, producer, and writer based in London, United Kingdom.
She graduated from the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, Music and Cinematography in 1996 and later received a diploma in feature film directing from the High Courses for Scriptwriters and Film Directors.
In 1997, Krichevskaya joined NTV, Russia’s first private independent television network, where she directed and produced a wide range of programs. By 2001, she had become a senior director at the channel and received multiple national television awards for her work. After NTV was seized by the Russian government, she went on to work in Ukraine.

Between 2005 and 2008, Krichevskaya worked in Ukraine, where she launched Freedom of Speech with Savik Shuster on ICTV — the first independent political talk show after the Orange Revolution, which reshaped the landscape of political television in the country.

In 2008, she joined Natalia Sindeeva in launching TV Rain (Dozhd), Russia’s only independent news television channel. As a co-founder and creative producer, she helped shape the channel’s news and political programming during its formative years. After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, TV Rain was forced into exile and has been based in Amsterdam since 2022.

Krichevskaya moved to London in 2014. In 2019, she founded the UK-based film production company Six Days Film.

Philosophy

Approach to Filmmaking

Truth Over Comfort

Documentary filmmaking is an act of witnessing. The camera must be unflinching, even when the subject challenges the audience.

Human Stories First

Behind every political upheaval, there are people. The films center on individuals — their choices, fears, and courage.

Independence Always

From co-founding TV Rain to creating Six Days Film, independence is not a luxury but a necessity for telling honest stories.

"A documentary is not about finding answers. It's about asking questions that make people uncomfortable — and then sitting with that discomfort together."

With over two decades in media and film, Vera's work has been screened at 20+ international festivals, earning 7 awards and critical recognition for its unflinching honesty and cinematic craft.
